Despite falling a goal down early on, Alan Pardew’s side found two quick goals from James McArthur and Yannick Bolasie to put themselves in front, before Wilfried Zaha extended the lead just before half-time.
Bolasie would complete his brace just after the restart to make it four and they broke the record in stoppage-time when McArthur also added his second of the game with the last kick of the game to break surpass the previous 4-1 wins over Middlesbrough, Coventry City and Sunderland.
